When I talk about the benefits of branding first, I always stress how important it is to create not just customers, but passionate brand advocates. When your brand story is authentic and speaks to the core of why you do what you do, you attract an audience who believes in your shared vision and values. They feel connected to your brand emotionally. They’re excited to sell your product, service, or idea for you, simply because they believe in what you’re doing and want to share it with everyone they know.
I started thinking about this the other night on Twitter. Angie Meeker and Rob Neu (You know you’re a designer when you always want to add an “e” to Rob’s last name) were talking about affiliate programs, and how a certain managed WordPress hosting company didn’t have one. Angie is planning a class and thought Flywheel would be a perfect fit, but was reconsidering because, let’s face it— affiliate payments are a pretty sweet financial perk. Who says no to free money?
