Bee Crafty is a child theme built by Creativity Included for the StudioPress Genesis Framework. This theme is perfect for businesses who put more emphasis on images than they do words. Featuring a cool jQuery home page, six page layout options, custom widgets and galleries, and Chris’s signature attention to detail, Bee Crafty is is the perfect way to build your WordPress-powered blog-site.
I love your work, but am a new, new blog user and really don’t understand how flexible these themes are for someone that cannot code. So, a couple of questions on what I could do to make this work for my blog…
1) can you add additional “categories” (i.e. more then 5) along the top in the orange ribbon
2) can you add text below each small image (to annotate individually) shown on the blog page or does it have to appear as a block of text underneath
3) can you add more “images” on the first page of the demo to reflect the blog categories or can they only point to individual blogs
4) Do I have to by the annual type set package for my blog – if i want the same formating as the demo but nothing else?
Sorry for all the questions, but scared to buy and then not be able to use. Thanks for all the help.

Honestly, if you are looking to customize a theme but don’t have any coding knowledge, Genesis themes may not be for you. Anything more than the most basic of customizations require at least a working knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS and jQuery. If you want the theme to work the way it does out of the box, you’re fine, but it sounds like you have additional requirements. Otherwise I’d hire a customizer to make your edits for you.
Unfortunately, flexibility like you’re after requires the ability to code.
A client of mine adores the jquery images/links on the home page and we’re wondering, is this function available as a plugin? If not, how much work would it be/could we hire you to build something similar for the front of her Thesis site?
It’s based on a pretty basic jquery tutorial – I just made it prettier. Unfortunately I’m moving my focus to developing themes so I’m not currently taking on any new clients – you should check the list of StudioPress recommended devs, though – if you can’t figure it out easily yourself, one of them should be able to help you out!
Is it possible to change the colors? A friend of mine has a similar business and uses this theme. I don’t want ours to look exactly the same. Thank you for your help. I would like to get started right away.
I just wanted to tell you how FABULOUS this Bee Crafty theme is!
When I first started out as a blogger, at the beginning of the year, every book/article/magazine I read recommended using StudioPress. When I checked it out, the Bee Crafty theme popped out at me right away- It was so fun!
Later on, when I was finally ready to hire a designer, I looked for someone who used StudioPress. Her questionnaire asked me loads of questions, including which 3 or 4 themes I liked most. She was so amazing, that she realized that the Bee Crafty was 100% the right one for me…. And I love, love, LOVE how it turned out!
We customized mine differently, and I don’t have the cool boxes on my home page– They’re a ton of fun, but probably not the right fit for my blog. And one of my favorite features is the ability to customize the navigation bars- super cool and easy peasy to do!
Thanks so much for designing such a fun and unique theme!!
Aww! Thank you so much! I am *so* glad you love your theme!
